Cleveland now has a towering new symbol of heroism and hometown pride with the recent unveiling of an 18-foot Superman statue in the heart of downtown. The dramatic stainless steel figure greets visitors outside the Huntington Convention Center as part of the newly dedicated Jerry

Siegel and Joe Shuster Tribute Plaza, honoring the two Glenville High School students who created Superman in the 1930s. (News 5 Cleveland WEWS)

Created by acclaimed sculptor David Deming, the installation includes not only the soaring Man of Steel, but also bronze representations of Siegel and Joe Shuster, alongside a likeness of Joanne Siegel, the inspiration for Lois Lane. A classic telephone booth evokes Clark Kent’s transformation into Superman, adding a touch of comic lore to the plaza experience. (Spectrum News 1)

The project has been years in the making, driven by the Siegel & Shuster Society and supported by community fundraising and county leadership. Its location and design celebrate Cleveland’s unique role in comic book history while creating a vibrant gathering spot for fans, families, and tourists alike. (WKYC)
